Welcome to Herons Class pages where we hope you will find out all about our Year 3 and Year 4 children and what they have been learning. Herons Class is a mixed Year 3 and Year 4 class and has 30 children. The class is taught by Mr Owen and Mrs Walker, like the other classes they also get up to all kinds of fun learning!
Herons Class have been very busy during Term 2! Throughout the term we have been discovering lots of facts about the popular toy, Lego. In English we learnt the features of discussion writing and finished the unit writing a debate discussing the question: Should Lego be a ‘must have’ toy on every child’s Christmas list? The children were very surprised by some of the facts they learnt about the History of Lego. We also wrote personification poems which you will find inside your child’s Christmas card!
The term will finish with us creating our own animations. The children have made their own plasticine model and produced settings from Lego. We are busy learning how to use Lego movie maker to help create our short animations. We hope to share these with parents next term! In Science we have been busy learning about Sound and how it travels through sound waves. We have enjoyed using the data loggers to gather accurate measurements.
In R.E we have been looking at parables in the Bible. The children explored our school values and reflected creatively, producing a range of fabulous art work. This ranged from making up new songs, dances, art work and drama! We also had a fabulous week planning a collective worship for the school. Our theme was ‘Forgiveness’. We learnt songs, acted out Bible stories, produced art work and wrote our very own stories.
