School Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

At Sholden Church of England Primary School, we are passionate about our children learning through a dynamic and engaging curriculum where all children can flourish and prosper. We have developed a curriculum that embraces our small village community and prepares them for their future in the wider world.

Our curriculum is underpinned by our four Learning Values: Creativity, Collaboration, Resilience and Reflection. We intend for our curriculum to provide experiences that channel the enthusiasm and spontaneity of young children whilst gaining knowledge and skills that children can explore, practice, and apply in order to develop a love of learning. Through providing this, we aim for children to continue to expand their knowledge and skills throughout their life.

Our curriculum has been purposefully designed to develop our children’s enquiring minds and broaden their experiences and aspirations. Through providing engaging lessons and enriched experiences, children become creative, critical thinkers. To enable our children to be prepared for both the next stage in their personal and academic journey, our curriculum is aspirational, progressive and challenging.

We want to cultivate a broad sense of cultural capital. We utilise our village school location to ensure children can develop their self-identify in the context of their immediate locality and the wider world.

We provide a curriculum and enriched educational experiences that enable our children to fulfil their potential academically as well as spiritually, morally, socially and culturally.

Our school Christian values reinforce the behaviour and attitudes for learning that we endeavour for our children to show: Love, Forgiveness, Kindness, Peace, Courage. Through our curriculum, we provide a school where all children feel safe and happy. We intend for them to leave Sholden CE Primary School confident in their own ability with a high sense of self-worth and aspirations for a brighter future.
